The clamping elements of CleverClamp system are tailored to manufacture one-off and small-batch parts. Simple to handle, they serve a variety of applications, decrease setup times, increase machining times, and improve productivity.
Basic rails are calibrated to fit the Erowa UPC and Erowa MTS production tooling systems. Clamping elements can be positioned on the serrated base rails and be used horizontally or vertically. The base rails provide the flexibility to attach workpieces of varying shapes and sizes in a limited amount of space. The system can be universally automated.

Bearing preload series
The SSB bearing preload series adds diameters ranging from 9mm to 13mm. More than 300 SSB springs are stocked in carbon and stainless steel. The single turn wave spring helps eliminate bearing play, minimizing noise. Constant light/medium pressure removes play between the ball bearings and the bearings’ inner and outer races. Preloading can reduce the risk of bearing damage due to vibration and wear due to repetitive and non-repetitive runout.
Traditional Smalley Wave Spring and Spirolox retaining rings can be machined to 0.165" (4mm) diameters.

Vision measurement systems
The Quick Vision Active series of vision measurement systems offer easy operation and space-savings with advanced functionality for contact and noncontact measuring needs.
The system offers interchangeable objective zoom lenses for small-to-large features. An 8-step zoom lens can magnify range from 0.5x to 7x. The 1x optional objective achieves a magnification range of 0.5x to 3.5x with a working distance of 74mm. The 2x option can achieve a magnification range of 1x to 7x.

The SFcompact chip conveyor filters coolant to 50µm and handles virtually all chip types and sizes, from stainless steel to brass and aluminum. Instead of relying on a large-footprint, drum-based design, the system uses self-cleaning dual filters that can be removed in 15 minutes after removing the chip conveyor.
Because the filtering system is integrated within the rigid frame, the chip conveyor takes up no more floor space than a typical hinge-belt conveyor and, in most cases, will work with the existing coolant tank.

Modular tool changing system
The Solidfix modular tool changing system allows for the quick change of tools by using adapters that hold a variety of tools instead of requiring a labor-intensive manual tool change or adding an expensive automatic tool changer. Solidfix allows users to preset tools for precise, repeatable cuts with15-second tool changes.
Instead of traveling to a tool-change rack, the Solidfix spindle can be programmed to move to a home position where the operator can quickly change tools and resume manufacturing. Metal additive manufacturing for industrial production
The Renishaw RenAM 500M builds complex metallic components directly from CAD using metal powder bed fusion technology. The machine manufactures parts within the 250mm x 250mm x 350mm build volume (9.84" x 9.84" x 13.77") and uses an ytterbium fiber laser to fuse fine metallic powders.
In-line sieving allows powder to be recycled and re-used in a single process under an inert atmosphere, reducing user interaction and turnaround time. Metallic powder is loaded into the machine hopper at the front of the system and sieved ultrasonically. Any un-melted material is returned to the hopper and passes through the ultrasonic sieve before being processed. Sieved powder is pneumatically transferred in a flow of high purity argon gas into the powder delivery silo.
A high capacity twin SafeChange filter system enables builds to run for long periods in a stable, controlled atmosphere. Filters capture process emissions, and an intelligent control system actively senses the filter’s condition and redirects the gas circuit to a clean filter before conditions deteriorate.

Ruggedized backplane interconnects
Ruggedized optical backplane interconnect systems that provide a high-density, blind-mate optical interconnect in a backplane/daughtercard configuration. The half-sized connectors are fully compliant to the ANSI/VITA 66.4 standard.
The fiber optic ribbon cable interconnect feeds through the backplane to removable system modules using MT ferrules. The VITA 66.1 modules are full width and accommodate two MT ferrules, and the VITA 66.4 modules are half width and hold a single MT ferrule. Two VITA 66.4 modules can fit into the same space as a VITA 66.1 module.
Designed for rugged embedded computing applications, the optical modules are compatible with VPX and other high-performance standards. The protective cover is made of anti-static material, and the connector mounting screws contain a pre-applied anti-vibration material to help withstand vibration. The modules have an operating temperature range of -20°C to 85°C and can withstand 100 cycles, as tested per EIA-455-21.

High-temperature materials for petrochemical equipment
P78 high-temperature, high-performance thermoplastic; and P240, a lubricated, fiber-reinforced version of P78m, are for chemical processing, petrochemicals, and in applications requiring wear resistance at extremely high temperatures. P78 and P240 exhibit exceptional heat resistance and minimal wear with excellent load-carrying capabilities at extreme temperatures. The compression-molded materials have a maximum service temperature of 650°F (343°C). Depending on the application, effective sealing at higher service temperatures may be achieved. Compatible with ketones, hydrocarbons, and ethers, the materials offer ultrasonic transparency and retention of tensile strength, compressive strength, elongation, and hardness at more than 400°F (205°C).
The materials are suitable for electrical connectors, bearing seals, bushings, and valve seats. P78 is suitable for use in simple support rings whereas P240 is for high-temperature seals and support-ring applications where the ring may come into contact with a dynamic part.

The CTEU-EP universal interface module makes EtherNet/IP connectivity plug-and-play for a range of economical valve terminals. The CTEU-EP is ODVA conformant and a Rockwell Encompass referenced product. OEMs can configure up to 96 valves on multiple valve terminals with a single EtherNet/IP node. Basic diagnostics reduce downtime through faster identification of under-voltage and short-circuit fault conditions.
Automatic identification of the valve terminal type and configuration speed up installation. The system lowers inventory requirements – a single part number covers multiple configurations – and, with an adapter, a single CTEU-EP can interface two valve terminals.

CNC machine lineup
Four models in the third-generation of opposed gang tool CNC lathes, identified with a “-III” after their base model numbers, will be released at IMTS 2016.
The electrical control cabinet moves from inside the machines to an external position behind the machines, and engineers installed two additional support ribs for enhanced rigidity.
Software offers part program checking, analyzes the part program code, and provides the operator with suggested code optimizations to increase the operating speed of the program and subsequently reduce part cycle time. The thermal displacement compensation function has been enhanced and can now be used on every linear axis.
The machines include Abile programming software and are convertible, meaning they can run as traditional Swiss-style lathes using a guide bushing or operated with an optional chucker kit, which can be quickly installed.

CMM-Manager 3.5 for Nikon’s iNexiv vision measuring equipment integrates vision measuring, autofocus laser scanning, rotary indexing, and touch probing to provide a true 3D multi-sensor system for inspecting physical products based on 3D CAD models.
By interfacing with the CAD model – an integrated part of measuring and inspection with the iNexiv video measurement systems – users can take programming and inspection offline, improving programming work, saving time, and bringing products to market faster.
With CMM-Manager 3.5, users import a range of 3D CAD models and can pick features to create automatic probe paths for vision and tactile measuring.
